بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيم

We begin in the name of Allah the Exalted. May Allah bless and grant peace to the leader of the Creation Muhammad , and on his Family and Companions until the Day of Judgment. We ask Allah to keep us away from knowledge that is not beneficial, and may increase us in (useful) knowledge that will be an adornment for us in this world and the next. Continue reading

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيم

The following are some introductory notes I am taking in order to better understand an answer given by Shaykh Faraz Khan of the SeekersGuidance institute and its associated site, on the subject of Allah’s Relationship with Time and Space. I know this is a matter that may seem again to be recurring again and again in what I write, but we have to understand that non-Muslims are what they are due Continue reading

Again, these are a few notes on a post on the sunnianswers blog, this time the post ‘Wahhabi Contention: Asharis do not refute Shirk’. The Shaykh had actually partitioned his long initial response to Yasir Qadhi into small posts, and these have the advantage of opening themselves up for further commentary and questions by the readers as needed. I will see what type of comments I can give from my side with respect to this post and the subsequent discussion. Continue reading

These are a few notes I am making on the post entitled ‘Wahhabi Contention: Asharis consider proving the existence of God their utmost priority’ on the sunnianswers blog. In fact, this is an excerpt from the Shaykh’s previous response to Yasir Qadhi’s article (on which I had made some notes on this link), but it was re-posted by the Shaykh later on, probably in order to highlight this matter and to respond to any comments specific to this subtopic. Thoughts on an answer concerning Ash’ari scholars repudiating their previous beliefs

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيم

I came across a comment by Shaykh Abu Adam al-Naruiji on this link of his site, answering a question about what is our view concerning the claim that Imam Al-Ash’ari (Rahimahulla) left the path he elucidated and instead went “back to the beliefs of the Salaf” (an epithet many times used for the anthropomorphic and crypto-anthropomorphic beliefs that certain people hold and retroactively project back to the Salaf (the earliest generations of Muslims).) What I wish to do in this and a number of subsequent articles is to write down some notes for the purpose of understanding a number of articles, works, posts, etc., written by the scholars of Islam available on the Internet. It is mostly for me to understand what these Mashaaykh have said, since some of their sayings are quite deep in places, and they need a deeper elucidation in order for them to be properly understood. I hope that the general readership may also benefit from these, since the notes come from a layman like myself and the thought processes may be similar between myself and other common people. If there are any problems in my understanding, I hope for the Shuyuukh to correct me wherever necessary. Continue reading

Introductory thoughts on the post ‘Refutation of Ibn Rushd’s ‘Jiha’ Argument’

بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيم

These are just some thoughts I am writing down while trying to understand the topic entitled: Refutation of Ibn Rushd’s “jiha” argument from the aslein forum’s English section. If any mistakes appear in my understanding, I hope that the experts may correct my errors. It also seems that the translation made by the brothers in the link containing the excerpt of Shaykh Foudah’s book is incomplete, along with the fact that the excerpt is from the middle of the book, Continue reading
